Bassett lost to Halifax County back in September of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Bengals simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Comets 56-7. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.
David Cook continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 251 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also rushing for 36 yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (160.4). 130 of Cook's passing yards were hauled in by Keelan Price-Kent, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
The victory made it two in a row for Bassett and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points over those games. As for Halifax County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Looking ahead, Bassett will face off against William Byrd at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Halifax County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
