Softball Recap: Salisbury Hornets vs. Wheatmore Warriors

If Salisbury was riding high fresh off their 22-10 takedown of Statesville last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Salisbury Hornets came up short against the Wheatmore Warriors on Thursday, falling 17-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-2 last Thursday.

Addisyn Myers was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. Allison Peeler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Salisbury suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Wheatmore, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Salisbury and South Davidson will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Salisbury has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Wheatmore, they will take on West Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wheatmore knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully West Davidson likes a good challenge.
