Football Game Preview: Seneca Fighting Irish vs. Marquette Crusaders

For the first time this season, Seneca will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Marquette Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Marquette will be up against a hot Seneca team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Fighting Irish blew past Dwight 50-17 on Friday. Considering the Fighting Irish have won four contests by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Marquette blew past St. Bede, posting a 42-7 win. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Bruins recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Seneca better focus on containing Grant Dose and Anthony Couch as the pair were huge in Marquette's win. Dose gained 142 total yards, while Couch threw for 130 yards and three TDs.

Marquette was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Bede only rushed for 121.

Marquette now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Seneca, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Seneca strolled past Marquette when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 21-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Irish since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
