Softball Recap: Lake Norman Charter Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Rowan, Lake Norman Charter was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Greater Cabarrus S Stallions by a score of 6-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Morgan Gadd made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Quinn Clark was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Ilyana Smith was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Lake Norman Charter's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-11. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greater Cabarrus S, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Norman Charter will host Northwest Cabarrus at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Greater Cabarrus S, they will welcome Metrolina Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
