Basketball Recap: Piscataquis Comes Up Short

Piscataquis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Dexter Tigers at home by a 40-22 margin. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Piscataquis' loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Dexter, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piscataquis will face off against Penobscot Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Penobscot Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests. As for Dexter, they will venture away from home to face off against Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dexter's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Central's offense will have their work cut out for them.
