Baseball Recap: Martin County Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

With a playoff win on the line, Martin County rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Forest Hill Falcons. Considering the Tigers have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cody Bennin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kamai Purce, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Brancaleone, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.

Martin County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest Hill only posted a batting average of .217.

Martin County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Forest Hill, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-13.

Looking ahead, Martin County will take on Dwyer at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Forest Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
