Basketball Recap: Redlands East Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Beaumont last Thursday, Redlands East Valley came back down to earth. The Redlands East Valley Wildcats came up short against the Citrus Valley Blackhawks on Tuesday, falling 62-37. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Redlands East Valley lost, don't look at Dariel Bahamontes. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards. Redlands East Valley is 12-6 when Bahamontes posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Demaj Moore, who posted seven points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Citrus Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carmine Amaya, who had 21 points and seven rebounds. Aidan Todd was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Redlands East Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 14-14. As for Citrus Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season.
