Recap: Eagle Pass Eagles vs. Southwest Dragons
The Eagle Pass Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 53-38 bruising from Southwest. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Eagle Pass in their matchups with Southwest: they've now lost eight in a row.
Southwest's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephanie Gonzalez, who scored 20 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Covarrubias, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Eagle Pass' loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Southwest, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Eagle Pass' road trip will continue as they head out to face La Vernia at 10:00 a.m. on December 8th. One thing working in La Vernia's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. As for Southwest, they will square off against Jourdanton at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Jourdanton will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
