Baseball Game Preview: Bunker Hill Bears vs. Patton Panthers

The Bunker Hill Bears will challenge the Patton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Bunker Hill didn't have quite enough to beat West Iredell and fell 13-11. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Kamden Bortz and Kaiden Garrett stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bortz scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Garrett scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Bortz a new career-high in hits (three). Corey Canipe was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Patton came up short against East Burke on Friday, falling 7-1.

Patton saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Hullette, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Bunker Hill now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Patton, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Bunker Hill skirted past Patton 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Will Bunker Hill repeat their success, or does Patton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
