Softball Recap: Berks Catholic Wins Going Away Against Oley Valley

While Berks Catholic put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Oley Valley. The Saints were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Lynx. The Saints haven't had any issues with the Lynx recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Giana Mirenda was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Schearer, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Celeste Mirenda, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Berks Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oley Valley only posted an OBP of .250.

Berks Catholic's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Oley Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berks Catholic will take on Hamburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
