Softball Recap: Mary Star of the Sea Stars vs. St. Monica Mariners
Mary Star of the Sea was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the St. Monica Mariners, falling 18-10. The Stars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mariners apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.
Larrin Burruss made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Amaree Arellano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Mary Star of the Sea's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for St. Monica, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-5.
Looking ahead, Mary Star of the Sea is taking a road trip to challenge Serra at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Monica, they will welcome Ramona Convent at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Monica is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
