Softball Game Preview: Dowling Catholic Maroons vs. Ankeny Hawks

Dowling Catholic is 2-8 against Ankeny since June of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Maroons are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Dowling Catholic managed to slip by Johnston the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Maroons lost 12-5 to the Dragons on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Ankeny was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 5-1 to Northwest.

Dowling Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Ankeny, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Dowling Catholic came up short against Ankeny in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Maroons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
