Basketball Recap: Elissa Sambo and Jackie Soncini Secure Win for Cheyenne

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Legacy, Cheyenne was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They secured a 45-40 W over the Eldorado Firehawks. The Desert Shields have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Firehawks, too.

Cheyenne was led to victory by Jackie Soncini and Elissa Sambo. Soncini dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards, while Sambo posted 18 points and eight steals. Those 17 boards gave Soncini a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayah Belin, who earned six points along with seven boards and four steals.

Despite the loss, Eldorado still got an impressive performance from Tyteaira Foreman, who had 25 points. Jasmine Rodriquez was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Cheyenne's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Cheyenne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-3 loss against Somerset Academy Losee on the 9th. As for Eldorado, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-26 defeat against Valley on the 6th.
