Softball Recap: Lee County Trojans vs. Tift County Blue Devils
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against LaGrange, Lee County was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They had just enough and edged the Tift County Blue Devils out 4-3. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2023.
Christina Benton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Lee County's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Makinley Duke, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a double.
Lee County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Tift County, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee County will face off against Schley County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tift County, they will take on Lanier County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Tift County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
