Football Recap: Cenzo Calandra Leads Sanger's Defense on Friday

Sanger and Bullard pushed the score to 39-20 the last time they played Bullard, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Apaches secured a 13-7 W over the Knights. The Apaches haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kendale McGrew was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 136 yards and one TD. He has become a key player for Sanger: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sanger was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 307 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Sanger didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cenzo Calandra.

Bullard's loss came despite strong showings from Tyler Franklin and Tyrin Pree. Franklin threw for 262 yards and one touchdown, while Pree picked up 110 receiving yards.

The win got Sanger back to even at 3-3. As for Bullard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Coming up, Sanger will be playing at home against Justin Garza at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Bullard, they will venture away from home to square off against Madera at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights will need to watch out since the Coyotes have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
