Softball Game Preview: PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays vs. Olympia Spartans

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central is 0-4 against Olympia since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Bluejays will challenge the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Rushville-Industry by a score of 8-5. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Mackenzie Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Miller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Vogel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Regan Heubner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rushville-Industry only posted an OBP of .172.

Olympia came out on top against Maroa-Forsyth on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Spartans' pitchers stepped up to hand the Trojans an 8-0 shutout.

Olympia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, their record is now 7-9.

PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Olympia in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
