The Evadale Rebels will head out on the road to take on the Brookeland Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Evadale knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Brookeland likes a good challenge.
Evadale's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Hull-Daisetta 15-0. With that victory, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Cooper Palmer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Evadale is 6-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Palmer was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Evadale let Kayden Hubbard and Brett Buckner run wild. Hubbard went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Buckner scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Buckner has become a key player for Evadale: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Jaden Gravis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Evadale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Brookeland had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since March 9, 2024.
Brookeland's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Evadale, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.
Everything went Evadale's way against Brookeland when the teams last played back in February of 2020, as Evadale made off with a 20-2 victory. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
