Football Recap: North Wilkes Takes a Loss

North Wilkes lost against East Wilkes back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Vikings were outmatched by the Cardinals and fell 42-7. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

East Wilkes got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ty Bumgarner out in front who rushed for 126 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Guessford, who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries.

North Wilkes' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for East Wilkes, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Wilkes will host Wilkes Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Wilkes, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against West Wilkes at 7:30 p.m. The Blackhawks' defense has only allowed 1.8 points per game this season, so the Cardinals' offense will have their work cut out for them.
