Soccer Game Preview: Orange Glen vs. Bishop's

The Orange Glen Patriots will head out to square off against the Bishop's Knights at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Orange Glen will be strutting in after a victory while Bishop's will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Wednesday, Orange Glen narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past La Jolla Country Day 3-2. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Torreys are ranked 576th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mesi Cristobal and David Rivera scored all three of Orange Glen's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Bishop's was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Pacific Ridge, falling 4-1. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Knights couldn't quite close it out.

Orange Glen has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those six games. As for Bishop's, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-1.

Orange Glen beat Bishop's 5-3 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orange Glen since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
