Basketball Game Preview: A.L. Brown Wonders vs. West Cabarrus Wolverines

A.L. Brown hasn't had much luck against West Cabarrus recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The A.L. Brown Wonders will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Cabarrus Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, A.L. Brown ended up a good deal behind Cox Mill and lost 80-65. While losing is never fun, the Wonders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Chargers are ranked 175th).

Meanwhile, West Cabarrus suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Lake Norman 79-49. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now lost six in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for A.L. Brown and nudges their season record down to 3-10. As for West Cabarrus, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

A.L. Brown skirted past West Cabarrus 46-43 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was West Cabarrus' Gianni Vines, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for A.L. Brown to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
