Softball Recap: Don Lugo Starts Season with Win Against Western

Don Lugo gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They never let the Western Pioneers onto the board and left with a 15-0 win.

Jade Curiel made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Curiel was even better at the plate, going a perfect4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other pitching news, Hayden Pitsenberger looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Ariel Delgado was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leylah Ramirez, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Don Lugo will host Bellflower at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Western, they will square off against Whitney at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
