Big Boi, Method Man and Warren G all have sons who are excelling on the gridiron.
Video: Taking Over the GameSons of rappers becoming stars on the gridiron. Big Boi, Method Man and Warren G were once among the biggest names in the rap game.
Now, all three have sons making their own name as promising high school football players.
Diddy (Justin Combs), Snoop Dogg (Cordell Broadus) and Will Smith (Trey Smith) also had talented high school football-playing sons in recent years, so perhaps this is a trend worth keeping an eye on.
Let's take a look at the sons of rappers on the rise this fall:
*
Cross Patton, Woodward Academy (College Park, Ga.): Son of Outkast's Big Boi. The junior plays running back and defensive back for the 3-0 War Eagles.
*
Raekwon Smith, Curtis (Staten Island, N.Y.): Son of Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man. Starting safety and receiver last year as a freshman, helping the Warriors nab a New York PSAL City Championship. The sophomore is poised for a big campaign.
*
Olaijah Griffin, Mission Viejo (Calif.): Son of Warren G, who famously ushered in the G Funk Era in the 1990s. Committed to UCLA, the Southern California product might be the most talented of the group. The senior will have to come up clutch on Friday in a highly-anticipated showdown against No. 10 Long Beach Poly.
