Basketball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-9. They took a blow against the Coventry Comets, falling 50-8. The Spartans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-3.

As for Coventry, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 35 points or more this season.

Coventry's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Danica Baird, who posted 16 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Baird is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Nemat Dabbas was another key player, putting up five points in addition to nine boards and eight steals.
