Baseball Recap: Lake Central Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

Lake Central never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mishawaka Marian on Friday. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 11-3 victory. Considering the Indians have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lake Central got a great performance from Ethan Champman as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Champman has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Jacob Zimmerman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Hein, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lake Central's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Mishawaka Marian, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Coincidentally, Lake Central and Mishawaka Marian will both be playing Cathedral the next time they take the field. The Indians will host the Fighting Irish at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Knights will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
