Basketball Recap: Zach Schatzman Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Marathon

There's no place like home for Ransom Everglades, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-39 victory over the Marathon Dolphins on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-37 back in December of 2024.

Ransom Everglades' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zach Schatzman, who went 6 for 12 en route to 15 points and three steals. Schatzman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Quinn Pegg, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 16 points.

Ransom Everglades was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marathon only posted nine assists.

Despite the loss, Marathon had strong showings from Daeshawn Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Briggs Roberts, who posted ten points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Holmes has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Chapman, who earned 11 points.

Ransom Everglades' win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Marathon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Ransom Everglades wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-56 defeat against Palmer Trinity on the 17th. As for Marathon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-44 victory against Palm Glades Prep Academy on the 21st.
