Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence lost against Page back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Independence Eagles fell 61-48 to the Page Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Patriots are ranked 29th).

Samantha Lee was nothing short of spectacular for Page: she went 6 of 13 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Mary Fox, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 13 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Independence and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Page, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will head out to square off against Ravenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is facing Ravenwood at the right time seeing as Ravenwood is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Page, they will head out on the road to take on Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Page is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season.
