Volleyball Recap: Matanzas Comes Up Short + How To Watch

If Matanzas was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Father Lopez on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Matanzas started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-19.

Sanigh Arneaud paced Matanzas' offense, picking up ten kills. Arneaud got some help from Analise Smith and her 15 assists. Arneaud was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Matanzas' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Flagler Palm Coast, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season.

Matanzas will venture away from home to face off against Spruce Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Flagler Palm Coast, they will welcome Atlantic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
