Basketball Game Preview: Mendota Trojans vs. Erie-Prophetstown Panthers

Mendota came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 62-38 to Princeton. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Erie-Prophetstown hadn't done well against Newman Central Catholic recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Erie-Prophetstown walked away with a 57-46 win over Newman Central Catholic. That looming 57-46 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Mendota's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. As for Erie-Prophetstown, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-14.

Mendota didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Erie-Prophetstown when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 45-40 win.
