Basketball Recap: Gaither Comes Up Short

Gaither won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were dealt a 50-8 loss at the hands of the Wharton Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cowboys have suffered since December 11, 2024.

Wharton was led to victory by Kaytee Tyler and Liala Williams. Tyler posted 18 points, while Williams put up 16 points. That's the most points Williams has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyric Jones, who had eight points.

Gaither's loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Wharton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Gaither has already played their next match (against Leto), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wharton has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against George Jenkins.
