Softball Recap: Panther Creek Takes a Loss

Apex Friendship hit Panther Creek with a five-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Catamounts took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The defeat continues a trend for the Catamounts in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost four in a row.

Ava Burt made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Welborn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Panther Creek's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Apex Friendship, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Panther Creek is set to take on their familiar foe Holly Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Apex Friendship will face off against rival Cary at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Patriots' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while the Imps have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
