Baseball Recap: Carlyle Has No Trouble Against Okawville

Carlyle won against Sandoval/Odin last Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Indians/Lady Indians blew past the Okawville Rockets 8-2. The Indians/Lady Indians haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Hayden Huels made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Carlyle is undefeated when Huels posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matthew Guthrie, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Carlyle's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Okawville, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Carlyle will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rockets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
