Woodhaven and Trenton are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodhaven's defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so Trenton's offense will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, Woodhaven was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 27-23 to Carlson. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Despite their defeat, Woodhaven saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Preston Scheffler, who threw for 242 yards and a pair of touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Tyler Lennon was Scheffler's top target, picking up 107 receiving yards and one TD.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of DeVante Clayborn, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Trenton made easy work of Anderson on Friday and carried off a 28-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Woodhaven better focus on containing Anthony Hawkins and Parker Saches as the pair were huge in Trenton's win. Hawkins rushed for 157 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while Saches rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Hawkins also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Trenton is 3-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
Trenton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only rushed for 18.
Trenton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Woodhaven, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.
