Softball Game Preview: Camarillo Scorpions vs. Moorpark Musketeers

Camarillo is 8-2 against Moorpark since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Scorpions will square off against the Musketeers at 3:30 p.m. Camarillo will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

On Wednesday, Camarillo got the win against Royal by a conclusive 13-3. The Scorpions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Khloie Hartman was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Alexa Gomez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

El Segundo typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Moorpark proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Musketeers.

Viviana Ramirez looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nathalie Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Cregut, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Camarillo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Moorpark, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Camarillo couldn't quite finish off Moorpark in their previous meeting on April 2nd and fell 4-2. Can the Scorpions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
