Mayfield is 1-9 against North since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Rangers at 4:30 p.m. Mayfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Mayfield was able to grind out a solid win over Wickliffe, taking the game 8-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Kameron Sills spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ella Mikesell was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Ava Migliorini also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, North came up short against South Williamsport on Friday and fell 9-4.

Ashley Sykes (John Carroll) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Gianna Latini, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

North now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mayfield, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mayfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like North struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Mayfield suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to North in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
