Baseball Recap: Grant Park Has No Trouble Against Cissna Park

Grant Park lost to Cissna Park back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Grant Park blew past Cissna Park 12-4. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won three matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Grant Park let Aiden Overbeek and Dean Malkowski run wild. Overbeek scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Malkowski went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Overbeek a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Seth Muehe, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Grant Park and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Cissna Park, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grant Park will welcome Beecher at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cissna Park, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
