Baseball Recap: Waverly's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games

Waverly has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.29 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They lost 15-7 to the DeWitt Panthers. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Iggy Arroyo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Owens, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Waverly fell to 6-1. As for DeWitt, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waverly will challenge Eastern at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for DeWitt, they will square off against Heritage at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
