Softball Recap: Rome Free Academy Makes It Ten in a Row at Home

It's playoff time, and Rome Free Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Baldwinsville Bees 7-1 on Sunday. Considering the Black Knights have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.

Haylee Bostwick and Alexa Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Bostwick went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Thompson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Thompson a new career-high. Madison Safin was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Rome Free Academy's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Baldwinsville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-10 record.

Looking ahead, Rome Free Academy will square off against Shenendehowa at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Plainsmen will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Black Knights surely won't give up without a fight. Baldwinsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
