Softball Recap: Pikeview Has No Trouble Against Montcalm

PikeView gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on the Montcalm Generals with a sharp 10-2 win. Considering the Panthers have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Compton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, PikeView let Shelby Maddox and Lauren Lambert run wild. Maddox scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-5, while Lambert scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Hedrick, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base.

PikeView is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Montcalm, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. PikeView will host James Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montcalm, they will face off against Mount View at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
