Basketball Recap: Jada Vanderhorst's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Corinth Holders over Clayton

Corinth Holders was the 59-24 winner over Clayton when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Corinth Holders Pirates fell 62-53 to the Clayton Comets on Friday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Corinth Holders' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jada Vanderhorst, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Vanderhorst is becoming a predictor of Corinth Holders' success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 4-2 (and 4-5 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Darla Lee, who went 10 for 24 en route to 25 points.

Even though they lost, Corinth Holders smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Corinth Holders' defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Clayton, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Corinth Holders will take on Garner at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clayton has already played their next game (against Cleveland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
