Softball Recap: West Greene Gets the Win

West Greene's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Unaka Rangers by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-6 back in March.

Morgan Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Alexis Cutshall was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayley Arnold, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

West Greene's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Unaka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Greene will challenge Greeneville at 5:30 a.m. on Monday. As for Unaka, they will take on Cloudland at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highlanders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
