Baseball Recap: Delta's Luck Changes for the Better on Wednesday

Delta had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past the Millard Eagles 13-2 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Rabbits, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Caden Meinhardt looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Delta: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 6-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Delta got a big performance out of Carson Nielson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Nielson a new career-high. Cy Droubay was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Delta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Delta's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Millard, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Delta will head out to square off against Manti at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rabbits' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Templars have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Millard, they will square off against South Sevier at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
