Basketball Recap: Dietrich Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

Dietrich had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They breezed past the Richfield Tigers to the tune of 72-34. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Dietrich's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Torgerson, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance also gave Torgerson a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Connor Perkins, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.

Dietrich smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Dietrich pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points over those games. As for Richfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Dietrich nor Richfield have any future games scheduled.
