Nixa faced Howell Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Spartans 2-1. Nixa are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.

Nixa pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Howell Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6-2.

Coming up, Nixa will head out to face off against Cor Jesu Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Howell Central, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Union at 6:30 p.m. on the 13th.
