Basketball Recap: Eisenhower Eagles vs. Putnam City North Panthers
After flying high against Capitol Hill last Tuesday, Eisenhower came back down to earth. The Eisenhower Eagles had to suffer through a 73-39 loss at the hands of the Putnam City North Panthers. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Putnam City North was led to victory by Anthony Leonard and Nate Muriithi. Leonard went 8-for-19 to rack up 16 points along with eight boards and six assists, while Muriithi dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Leonard a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Thomas, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points.
Eisenhower's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Putnam City North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-8.
Coming up, Eisenhower will host Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Putnam City North, they will challenge Edmond Santa Fe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
