Basketball Recap: Friendship Collegiate Academy Takes Down Ranked Anacostia

On Saturday, Friendship Collegiate Academy faced Anacostia in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights came out on top against the Anacostia Indians by a score of 53-44. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Friendship Collegiate Academy had a senior duo take command as Miyazia Harris almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards and Z'Niyah Moore almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jonae McKnight, who posted six points and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Anacostia lost, don't look at Nayjah Duvall. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'Shaun Robinson, who had 15 points.

Friendship Collegiate Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Anacostia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Friendship Collegiate Academy will face off against Friendship Tech Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anacostia, they will square off against Bard at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Bard has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
