River Road was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Nimitz on Friday. The River Road Wildcats blew past the Nimitz Vikings 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Carol Koval made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit over four innings pitched. Koval was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played.
In other batting news, River Road let Ava Sharp and Ashlynn Ferris run wild. Sharp scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Ferris scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Ferris has posted since back in April of 2024. Angie Rivas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

River Road has already played their next match, a 10-0 victory against Northwest on the 21st. As for Nimitz, they will challenge Scurry-Rosser at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Scurry-Rosser's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Nimitz's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
