Basketball Game Preview: Chassell Panthers vs. Jeffers Jets

Chassell and Jeffers are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Chassell Panthers will face off against the Jeffers Jets at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Chassell is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Chassell came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Johnston by a score of 33-31 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since December 15, 2023.

Meanwhile, Jeffers was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 47-41 to Baraga. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Vikings are ranked 191st).

This is the second loss in a row for Jeffers and nudges their season record down to 5-8. As for Chassell, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Chassell might still be hurting after the 43-21 defeat they got from Jeffers when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Chassell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
