Softball Recap: Oak Glen Triumphs

Oak Glen has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.65 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Millville Thunderbolts. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Bears.

Danica Holden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Holden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, Addie Smith and Marleah Lough did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Lough went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Lough has posted since back in May of 2024. Riley Bruce was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Oak Glen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millville struck out ten times.

Oak Glen's record now sits at 18-8. As for Millville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Oak Glen will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Indian Creek at 5:30 p.m. As for Millville, they will face off against Forbush at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Thunderbolts' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
