Preview: Takini Skyhawks vs. Bison Cardinals
The Takini Skyhawks will head out on the road to take on the Bison Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Takini has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 385 points over their last five games.
Takini scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Flandreau Indian 90-54 at home. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Bison's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a tough 62-41 loss at the hands of Wakpala.
Despite their defeat, Bison saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rylee Veal, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 43.9% of Bison's points, marking the 17th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Stadler, who scored six points along with six steals.
Takini's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Bison, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Takini couldn't quite finish off Bison in their previous matchup last Saturday and fell 70-67. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Veal, who scored 34 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Now that Takini knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
