Basketball Game Preview: South Mecklenburg Sabres vs. Davie War Eagles

The South Mecklenburg Sabres will venture away from home to challenge the Davie War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in South Mecklenburg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.

South Mecklenburg will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Myers Park, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. South Mecklenburg came out on top against Myers Park by a score of 57-49 on Friday.

South Mecklenburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Houpt out in front who on his way to 14 points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jim Gatehouse, who en route to 18 points.

Meanwhile, Davie came up short against West Forsyth on Tuesday and fell 61-50. The loss continues a trend for the War Eagles in their matchups with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

South Mecklenburg is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points over those games. Davie's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8.
